Ways to Save

The vast majority of LASIK treatment centers offer a fixed price for the LASIK surgery and will provide the price to you in advance of your treatment. The price typically includes a free consultation and eye exam to see if you are a good candidate for LASIK. Some centers may charge an exam fee (commonly $100-$150) that will be applied to the surgery if you decide to have LASIK. Most centers also include a period of time after the procedure during which touch ups can be made at no additional charge to re-treat an eye if your vision results are not satisfactory.

There are three general types of LASIK procedures: Traditional (with blade), Custom (with blade), and Bladeless (no blade). Some providers do not offer a bladeless custom option. When both blade and bladeless options are available, advertised prices may or may not include the bladeless technology.

Sales and Discounts

  • Many LASIK centers offer discounts.
  • While most centers will quote their discount price, you should be sure to ask because some only offer discounts when asked.
  • Some centers offer coupons or seasonal promotions. Check their websites or ask to be on their mailing list.
  • Some providers have a negotiated discount with large insurance carriers or vision networks. While most health insurance does not pay for LASIK surgery, you may receive an additional discount of 5-15% if you are in a major carrier provider network.

Questions to ask your LASIK center about pricing.

  • What type of surgery are you going to receive? (Traditional, Custom, Custom-bladeless).
  • How much does the procedure cost and what does it include?
    • Free evaluation?
    • Free follow up visits for 12 months?
    • Free LASIK touch-ups, if required, for 12 months?
  • Do you have any discounts or promotions?
  • Is there anything that is not covered that I will have to pay for?
  • Do you offer free financing or cash discounts?
  • What form of payment do you accept and how does the payment process work?
