Ways to Save

Surgery performed in a hospital with an overnight stay (“inpatient”) is usually the most expensive option. A less expensive option is to have the procedure performed in an “outpatient facility” (no overnight stay). There are two types of outpatient facilities: 1) outpatient surgery performed at a free-standing Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), which usually the best value and 2) hospital-based outpatient surgery, which is typically less expensive than inpatient care.

This procedure may also be performed under local anesthesia in a surgeon’s treatment room. This option may further reduce your costs if it is available. You can check with your surgeon.
