It may be better to let nature take its course when it comes to inducing labor before 39 weeks. Risk for postpartum depression increases and babies delivered before 39 weeks by C-section may have breathing and feeding problems.
Sometimes it may be necessary to induce labor before 39 weeks to ensure the health and safety of both mom and baby if there are complications with the pregnancy.

The doctor you choose determines which hospitals you may use for your delivery. You will want to check on pricing for major items like the obstetrician, hospital or birthing center, anesthesiologist, and pediatrician, as early as possible if the cost of delivery is an important consideration.
Vaginal deliveries are typically less expensive than Cesarean sections. Often, once a woman has had a Cesarean delivery, physicians offer to deliver future babies by Cesarean. However, many physicians will now offer or even recommend a vaginal delivery for future pregnancies as long as there are no medical reasons requiring a Cesarean. This is referred to as “Vaginal Birth After Cesarean,” or VBAC. If interested, ask your physician if this is an appropriate option for you.
The Fair Price is the price that you should reasonably expect a medical service to cost if you shop for care. Even in-network providers can have big cost differences for the exact same service. The most expensive providers can cost more than five times as much as providers that charge a Fair Price.
The Fair Price is calculated from actual amounts health plans have paid on claims. Some services show “bundled” pricing, which means there are multiple parts to the Fair Price. These usually include facility, physician and anesthesiologist fees, and can be viewed individually in the Fair Price Details. It’s always a good idea to request a price estimate from the provider and compare it to the Fair Price before your procedure.
The information on this website is not a price guarantee. There is no guarantee that any specific provider will charge a specific rate or that specific services will be covered under your benefit plan.
